Teacher salary benchmark shift – time for AIS to make a move

In recent days there's been a shift in teacher salary benchmarks across NSW.
New pay rates will apply from mid-October 2023.
The significant uplift in teacher salaries has an impact on the relativities right across the education sector in NSW.
The IEU has a grouping of more than 200 independent schools under a multi enterprise agreement that is not due to expire until January 2025.
In this regard, the IEU has reached out to the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the new salary benchmarks and an appropriate way forward for independent schools. We have received correspondence from the AIS declining the meeting request.
The IEU believes it is incumbent on the AIS to meet with the union as a matter of urgency.
